I have a judgement in NY that I disputed with EQ, I called yesterday to find out the status and they said it was verified. Today I call to find out how the verified and the CSR states ''We sent someone to the courthouse to verify and the they said it is yours"

So I go on to ask, can I get the name of that person and their telephone number.

Response: "All I know is that it was verified"

Anyway she said she would re-investigate"

Has anyone ever heard of them going to the courthouse?

    KB,

She is right I do believe. According to Experian, they actually have independent contractors if you will, temp. employees, whatever you wish to call them to go physically to the courthouses in different counties and actually pull the record and try to match up the info.{ie, name, address, social(if on the judgment). I would imagine this is how they get on our credit to begin with also since the courts dont' report us to the bureaus. I guess someone gets paid to submit judgments and verify them as well. You are probably going to have to get that address removed that is listed on that judgment in order to have it removed.

    Thick,
It is my current address, I got it removed from EX and TU, but oh mighty EQ is the bain of my life. I have had barely any progress with them, like I have EX and TU.

I want to send out a procedure request, but I know it is a waste of my time.

Call them and tell them you have never lived there, they will contact two or three of your most recent creditors and see what they get. EX has been the easiest, TU next but you know how I feel about EQ.

I had my address deleted, and my ssn was nowhere on the judgement, and EX STILL verified. Don't ask me how. I just got the green card back from them for my proc. request/delete letter. It was paid in 97, but it never got updated on my court records. Hoping they will delete, since they verified an incorrect judgement twice. Hoping at least they update to paid!

The judgement has my name on it wrong middle initital and my address, so they get the address, but the middle initial is wrong so it cannot be me. Accurate. 100% accuracy

What is if there is a Kyle Frank Banger in my house
and a Kyle Larry Banger in my house

The judgement says Kyle F. Banger

my name is Kyle L. Banger, sorry that is not accurate.

Nowhere on my report is my name Kyle F. Banger

By the way Kyle Banger is not by real name

Yes, the CRAs rely on local contractrators who hang out in the local courthouses and record departments culling information to sell to the CRA's. So it is possible for them to direct one of these persons to pull your public record.

so if the independant contractor makes $10 per (hour or inquiry) and I dispute the public record 100 times I've cost each cra 1k? COOL!!!

    So my question is:

Do you really think these contractors/vendors check the records or just say they did?

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I want to dispute a tax lien amount with the CRAs, but they want to know what the correct amount is.

So, if I give them the correct amount, how do I know they just don't plug the right amount into my report?

And while I'm on the subject, if an amount is $3,546.52, why is reported as $3.546 or $3,547 rounded off?

Don't believe the hype. By that time, they have labeled you frivilous and refuse to investigate, lol.

    QB:
This is what I am hoping will not happen, they will reinvestigate they said, I am hoping it comes off this time because everything that I need to do during the holiday season involves EQ. My credit union pulls EQ exclussively. I want a cc from them, a LOC and a car loan. Cannot be done with that thing there. I would pay it but I cannot at this time. Besides it is in the 5K range.

I have not found anything in the FCRA that requires you to tell them what would be accurate or complete. To do so would be to perform their job for them! Will they agree to pay you for the information?

Have you sent a letter stating "The tax lien reported on such and such date has an incorrect amount. Please correct this error or delete the item." ?

Or better yet, "I have never had a tax lien on such and such date in the amount of such and such dollars. Please delete this item."

The second option has the chance of coming back verified, with the amount unchanged, but it's still worth a shot.

I feel as if all three CRAs are in the business of helping their clients (the OCs) the worse credit we have the more money they make

May I ask you how you go the judgement? Was it because you didn't know about it, dispute it in court but lost or you just didn't want to be bother with it? Has it ruined your credit and your life or nothing has changed? The reason why I ask is because I was served a summons by Citibank and the process of getting the infor to answer the summons and everything else is just to complicated for me to handle. Even though a lot of people on this board has helped a lot in answering some of my questions. I thinking of just letting it go and deal with the judgement later. The SOL on the acct. is 1 year past, I know I can get them on that. But again I still think it's just too much for me right now, since I have a 9mth old baby who constently needs taken care of. So I thought I would ask if the judgement has turned your life upside down and you can't live another day with it being on your CR? LOL. I guess I'm just wondering if it would turn my life upside down. I don't own a house nor do I work. We have hardly any savings. I would think the stupid attorney would take those factors into consideration before filing suite for a measly $1300. Does anyone else have any input in this I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

That should be all you need to get the case dismissed. If you ignore it, they will get default judgement even though the SoL is up.

I should think you could get a dismissal written up for very little money. I don't know that any appearance would even be required, unless they fight your dismissal.

Granted, I am not a lawyer, so all of my advice is suspect
