I received an offer to settle my account with a CA, and am willing to do so, but just want to make sure I go about it the right way. I have a few questions first even after having read through this site extensively:

    1. The letter states that my deadline to "enroll" in the settlement program is 3/15. Is this really the case? I want to first validate the charge (although I'm fairly certain it is valid). I imagine they will settle at any time, but just wanted to make sure before contacting them.

    2. If the CA agrees to remove the information from my credit report...what about the OC charge saying it was sold to the CA? Will that stay? What if it was sold from the OC to a CA and to another CA...who is the right party to settle with?

    3. Lastly, I have a handful of negative items on my report, and would be willing to settle them all. Is this something I would be better off going to a professional to do on my behalf? There is no charge over $500 on the report.

I really appreciate any input, and am extremely grateful for this website. I just don't want to do anything to jeopordize my credit further...

1*No. They are just trying to make you feel good while giving you the shaft.
2*Good Idea. Why pay an illegal debt??
3*What you think is not the issue. let Validation decide this not you.
4*Don't cross this bridge before you get to it.
    5*Nope.
6*$5 $500 $50000 It's all the same and trashes your credit reports and blows your credit score down the tubes causing you to get reamed on insurance and loan products. The END ************************* LB 59
