EX just added a duplication for a paid CAP 1 account I closed in July of 2001. I originally settled this at 80% but got Mr. Cook to write a letter stating I paid in full. (letter is dated 9/01).On 10/01 EX states CAP 1 updated the file and it now says "settled legally for less than amount owed" but shows as paid in the positive area. First of all it shows as a duplicate, but this verbiage is differemnt. Should I send Mr Cook's letter? that states paid in full and to change account status from r-9 to r-1 status??
Don't give any CRA'S anything...call MR COOKE and tell him they got it wrong... PAID/NEVER LATE BALANCE $0 "R1" "ACCOUNT CLOSED BY CONSUMER"
You mentioned he agreed to mark it paid in full, but did he agree to change the rating to an r1?? If not I don't see how you are going to have the rating changed, it can still be paid in full, but still have the negative rating. I know Mr Cooke seems to be all that, but I can't see him agreeding to change the status to paid never late??
Bailey, I have the letter from Mr. Cooke, He states, " Your account has been paid in full. I will notify all credit reporting agencies to notify them of this. In addition, I am also changing your rating from an R-9 to an R-1. EX says when the verified this with Cap 1 they stated it was legally settled for less than the amount, etc. This is not what it says on the letter?? The letter is dated 9/02 and the verification supposibly occured on 10/01 so 10/01 is the latest info they have so that is why they are leaving it this way?? I guess I could call CAP1 to see what they show my account as. Should I get an updated letter from MR Cooke? EX placed this account in the positive area on the report though. Right above it is the same CAP 1 account saying paid in full never late just like Mr Cookes letter states.
I disputed the bad one as "not mine" and in one week it was verified?? How on earth?? Should I dispute it as duplicate now? What if they remove the good one though??
Tommyy, I have two settled in full accounts with Cap One. Did you come to this arrangement prior to settleing?
