Settlement offer - correct wording?

After unsuccessfully trying to have a collection removed from my creidt report, I finally decided to settle. I called the CA to arrange a settlement, and they faxed me a letter confirming the settlement. The letter reads:
"Your creditor has authorized us to offer you a settlement opportunity on the above referenced account. Upon clearance through the banking system of the settlement amount indicated below your account will be considered settled. Payment of the total settlement amount must be received in our office no later than the close of business on the date indicated below. If payment is not received in the indicated amount and within the time frame indicated, this offer will expire at that time. This offer represents a substantial savings over the actual amount owed on this account and is an opportunity for you to take care of this obligation at a greatly reduced cost. We will process a request within 30 days of receiving your payment to have the information updated to the credit bureaus."

My concern is that the letter does not state what exactly will be reported to the credit bureaus. I want to make sure they don't list it as "charged off" Should I call them back and request another letter indicating that my credit report will show the account "settled"? Or is what they have written sufficient? The letter does say that the account will be "considered settled" but does not specifically say that the credit report will read "settled." Any advice? Thanks.

What they've offered to do here is to screw your credit and scores in exchange for your payment.

If you did not follow the validation process I can understand why your attempt was unsuccessful.

I would not pay them one red cent without doing the validation process.
