I have a charged off account with Citibank for $2694 (12/02) that I would like to make an offer to settle with them. It has been turned over to National Finanacial Systems for collection, but I would like to settle this directly with Citibank so that we may purchase a house in about 2 years. I'd like to offer to settle for $1000. Can anyone here tell me where to get a good settlement offer letter from and what should and should not be included in this letter. I've heard that you are unable to get a mortgage with a charge off showing so I would like to get this cleared up now and hopefully have it deleted or maked "paid as agreed". Anyone had any luck getting Citi to do that? I am in SC and this is well within the SOL.
You can get a mortgage with the paid charge off account. You will just need to explain why it was a chargeoff account.
