I have a few things at a local collection angency should I try to settle with them or the original creditor. Most of these are very old and little money but I need to get them settled.

always settle with original creditor, unless the original trade states "debt sold to..."

And let's not forget to request that the collection be deleted, or at the very least have them report it without any derogatory implications such as plain "paid" or "settled" instead of "paid collections".

Otherwise you'll never know whether or not the creditor would have agreed to do so, such as in my case.

I don't do business with collection agencies:
They should be out lawed and put out of business!
It's hard enough to work things out with just two parties:
Adding a collection agency just adds more confusion to the issue & makes finding a solutation that much more difficult.
