Can someone give me the number to aplly for a gas card. I am trying to get another line of credit and am not having any luck. I applied for Orchard bank and have not heard anything. Should I be pleading my case to these people or jus t waiting?

From what people are telling me the Shell card does not report and might not be what you are looking for. If you are still interested you can apply online at www.shellcreditcard.com.

I applied online and got the usual response of appl. pending answer in 7-10 days. I want to establish a relationship with them and go for a visa or mastercard. Would it help if I called them and begged for a card?

    Beg???

You are going to beg for a gas card????? Do you have any credit?? And if so work with what you have. Sorry but begging for a gas card that doesn't even report??

Honestly I don't think anyone can tell you that. Anne, there are three companies that took a chance with me when I probably didn't deserve it and two of them I tell others about.

Providian gave me a Visa three years ago (way before I ever knew anything about credit other than I had destroyed mine) with a $250 limit. Now I have a Visa gold and standard MasterCard with them with $7800 and $1500 limits. This happened before I knew you could call them periodically and ask for upgrades. If I had known three years ago what I know now, I'm sure I would be doing even better with Providian.

TD Waterhouse Bank gave me a checking account and a Visa debit card when I had an entry on ChexSystems with my prior bank. For three years before finding them I worked on a strictly cash basis. Fortunately for me I live in Las Vegas where it is very easy to run on cash. Most any casino here will happily cash your paycheck for no fee. Most even offer paycheck cashing contests where you win prizes for cashing your check at the casino. You have no idea (or maybe you do) how much more easy it is to keep current on your bills when you can point and click payments on a website rather than going to 7-11 to get money orders to mail.

The third company that offered me anything was Capital One. They haven't done anything special for me, and I had my Providian card almost two years before I got theirs. I don't have anything against them, but over a year later I still have the same $500 credit line.

If I were you and was going to beg anyone for a card, I'd choose Providian. Others might offer different advice. YMMV.
