I called Shell today and asked for a credit line increase. I have had the card for a year and half and have never missed a payment nor have I been late. They told me that I would get an answer by mail within 7 to 10 days. Why does this sound like a disapproval? Will they pull a hard inquiry when they do an account review? Also, I want to ask Providian Mastercard for a limit increase as well. But first, I thought I'd see what the proper procedure is. I'm going to skip First Premiere as their fees are high enough as it is. . .
Yes its a decline. They make there reps say that so people dont start cursing, and closing there accounts in the heat of the moment. I have had them say that 8 times now. and everytime i have gotten a decline letter.
...SO IF THEY DENY A LIMIT INCREASE 7-10 DAY LATER BY MAIL...100% GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL NOT CLOSE IT???
Thanks for the info. I thought it was a slam dunk that I'd get the increase and only want it to help my fico. So, will I get a hard inquiry? I've never been late on the card and I've had it for 1 and half years. Oh well, back to the drawing board.I hope that once my Countrywide Home loan and my CU share-secured loan shows up on my cr I will finally see a bump up in my fico. I'm kinda stymied. My fico is stuck. My scores are: Equifax 652; Exp. 631; TU 636. I'm afraid to apply for credit because as you can see from applying for a line increase with a card that I have a perfect paying record with, I got declined. Back to the drawing board for me.
Actually, Providian declined me nicely by saying that they will notify me when they will offer a limit increase. This pretty well ticked me off. With Providian, I have been late on one occasion and I have been over my limit (becuz of their annual fees). So this declination I took more in stride. I can't wait until I finally get a prime card. . .
