Sherman ACQ Changing Balance due???

I just pulled all three of my CR yesterday. After coming to the reality that TU is screwed up, (about 13 duplicate entries) I noticed that I have three collections from Sherman ACQ on all of my CRs. After studying most of the entries I saw that one of the Sherman accounts have been transferred three times with Sherman being the final. The balance was 1097.00 from the original creditor. It then went to a collection account and it remained 1097.00. Finally, it went to Sherman which now shows a balance of 1350.00. What's up with that?

I was able to trace all of this because TU has all of these old/duplicate entries on there.

Also, on the other two Sherman accounts, the two balance due's were an increase from the original amount due as well.

Who should I dispute with? Or, should I send a verification letter? And who do I send it to?

I would also imagine that I should dispute ALL duplicate entries in all of my CRs. Correct?

    1*Send CA a Val.L.
2*you could send it to the cra after the CA gets the Val.L.
3*At the moment I would not dispute the duplicates.

3*CONT:If you have 3 entries for the same thing and you dispute 2 of them as duplicates you are more or less acknowledging that the remaining item is yours. If the CA fails to Val.
All three entries will have to be deleated.
So don't validate it for The CA by disputing the duplicates.

I have this company on my credit report also, same thing, charge off, then to someone else, then to Sherman Acq with and increase in the balance. I tried to settle with them for 500.00, the balance was 3050. and the rep was rude and mean, said no and HUNG UP before I could up the offer. I am going to validate with them, forget the settlement! This was for a cc opened in 1995, I bet they have no proof!

Maybe it was late 1995 when it was posted?

BTW - Thanks lbrown for the advice on my situation. I will write the val. letters tonight.

I need to know the DOL for the 1995 account .Say it was 2000 it would remain on the report to 2007.
Thanks hope it helps you out.
Keep us posted how events go with this so we can advise you along the way.

same with my TU, triplicate reporting.

Everytime the debt gets passed on TU uses a new date and sets it up like it's a new reporting; they don't revise the original debt either; they just add new entries.

Also, on mine, the original debt was paid in full via C13 payments, never updated...then it goes from CA to CA, I think some CA's bought some uncollectable debts and keep passing the buck.

    I sent validation letters.

How long ago did you send your vals. out? Did anything come of it?

The account was opened in 1995, charged off 9/98. But on the cr it has DLA as 12/98. When does the 7 year clock start?

I think it is the last time you paid on it before it was charged off.Do you know when that was .
Did you make a payment after 9-98?

I am not sure about the last time I paid on it. I did not make any payments after it was charged off. As far as the two duplicate entries by the two collection agencies, do I validate with them or the original creditor?

Isn't the above a violation of Sect. 808?

lbrown, when I send the val. letter out, do I need to cover any specifics with Sherman? Maybe balance? Or will the standard val. letter cover everything?

Never sent this letter out before. Just want to nail it the first time. Thanks.
