I have two collection accounts on my credit bureaus from sherman acq that list the oc as osi/gulf state credit. i have sent a validation letter to sherm with no response and have disputed both to experian (twice) which verified both times. i have no earthly idea what debt they are trying to collect and don't know the next step. i have a 15 day with threat to sue waiting beside me, but i wanted to get advice on what to do next. thanks! duke
OSI/Gulf State is a collection agency as well. Since validation with Sherman has gone anywhere, maybe try validation with them. peace, delilah
thanks delilah, should i go ahead and send the 15 to sherman? or wait and send a validation letter to osi? i've heard they are pretty much the same company, just under different names....
don't know the next step. duke | ================ STEPS 1 Send validation by CRRR 2 Dispute with CRAs after getting GR. Card. 3 30 days after CA signs card send estoppel . 4 I5 days after CA signs for it send ITS if no response from them. The END ************************* LB 59
OSI and Gulf States posted a rash of erroneous accounts last year to consumers' credit reports from Sprint and AT&T. Most CNetters who had these got them deleted with just 1 dispute letter. If they continue to report and verify with the CRA, you may have to take them to court.
sounds familiar. my wife had gulf states list something that was bogus from at&t for $47 last year. that was much easier to deal with (i talked them into it over the phone!) than this with sherman. i think after reading the estoppel letter, im going to try sending that. i sent them the validation letter on 2/13 with them signing the green card on 2/19. so that will fall in there perfect. keep you posted....... thanks
lbrown, isn't the estoppel letter an ITS? if i send that one, should i get ready to sue? i don't really have faith in sherm sending anything back that is valid
and also, should i send them a copy of the Engelhardt v Gravens case? heres one more thing: do i actually sign the letter or just print my name?
*sherman acq list the oc as osi/gulf state credit. duke ============ This can't be right: A CA can't be an OC ! The END ************************* LB 59

Re: Re: sherman aquisitions/osi/sprint Start writing your letters and building your paper trail. Then paint a big red bullseye on OSI's @ss. They are one of the biggest collection agencies in the U.S. and cut a lot of corners to stay that way. Responding to disputes and ensuring accurate reporting is not very high on their list of priorities.
