I just called the FL Dept of Financial Svcs to check on licenses for these 2 companies in FL. The lady on the phone said they have no record of either of them. Sherman is on my CR. Calvary is not, but they're trying to collect from a 3/2001 repo which they are not the OC. What is my next step?

I almost guarantee that if you contact Sherman, they'll have Alegis contact you in response. They seem to hide behind Alegis, but Alegis IS sherman. And from what I recall they are licensed in Florida - what this really means? I do not know, I am dealing with the same issue in California. Though California doesn't require licensing, they do require for businesses to register with the Secretary of State - which Alegis IS registered with. thus my problem is pretty much Identical, and every time I contact Sherman, it is Alegis who responds.

I sent a validation request to Sherman at the end of March (CRRR). Never heard a word - not even from Alegis. I'm about to send the estoppel letter since it's been well over 90 days. Maybe I'll check on Alegis through the DFS here. Thanks for your reply.

Why did you wait 90 days?
Estoppel goes out in 30 days. Why give them another 60 days to come up with the validation you don't want.?

Thats what I was thinking - the OC's SOL was up 3/2003. Didnt know if it started over w/Sherman when they bought it.

As for why I waited 90 days, it was just slacking on my part. I just didnt follow up. Credit issues became less important for a couple months. Go ahead and beat me with a wet noodle! ;)
