I received a mail offer to apply for the AMEX Blue and was thinking of applying. I really like the 9.99% long-term fixed APR offer with no annual fee. However, I wasn't sure about the probability of my application being accepted, for a several reasons, and was hoping someone (possibly George, our resident AMEX expert?) could offer some insight about what my chances are? First, I do not believe the offer was listed as either a "Pre-Approved" or "Pre-Selected" status, since I could not locate either term on the application (it does however have an expiration date listed). Second, I am not sure my CRA scores (718 EQ, mid-600s EX and TU) will be high enough to qualify unless AMEX specifically pulls EQ. My oldest cc account is from 1998. Finally, although I am not sure this is necessarily a factor, I have received mailed offers for AMEX Blue in the past, so is that possibly a positive in my direction? Or should I just wait until I actually get a genuine Pre-Approved offer from AMEX? Any thoughts/feedback would be deeply appreciated!
I was DENIED twice for the "PRE-APPROVED" PLAT. CASH BACK CARD... 9.99% is the lowest...NOT EVERYBODY GET IT...it took me almost 2.5 years to drop it from 12.99% No guarantee that they will pull EQUIFAX for YOU...they always pull EQUIFAX for me... "PRE-APPROVED" from AMEX has a HIGHER approval chance than many others... If you want...TRY IT...(if DENIED, you can always ask for RECONSIDERATION)
Thanks for your suggestion Charlie...that was actually what I was thinking too, especially since I think I read earlier on the dicussion board that AMEX usually pulls EX. Oh well -- no need to rush, since I'm doing pretty well with my current cards (can always apply in the future and save a hard inquiry)!
My 20 yr old daughter was approved for AMEX BLUE online today. They pulled Exp with score of 702. She has one visa 2yrs old, 1 car loan 2yrs old, and 1 store card 1yr old. I wasn't able to get AMEX even when my credit was good! and not even 21 yet! I'm so jealous Maybe she'll add me as AU.....
They pulled Experian? Do you mind if I ask what part of the country your daughter is in? I always thought they pulled Equifax. I know someone who would love to apply for Amex, but Experian is his only clean report. He was waiting for a clean EQ before applying.
