Hi -- haven't posted in awhile. While I still have a few dings, my credit score has been coming up nicely, with a median score of 665. I'd like to get it over 680. I just pulled all my reports and find an item I can't remember. I remember the name of the company, First Data Corporation, but I have no memory of being delinquent, or even what the loan was. Experian is the only one of the three agencies that report it. My Experian report says: Status, Paid, Closed/Collection account. Status details: This item was verified and updated on Jan 2004. Date Opened: 03/2002 Type: Installment Credit Limit/Original Amount: $7500 Reported since: 07/2002 Date of Status: 12/2003 Last Reported: 12/2003 Monthly Payment: $0 Recent Balance: NA Account History: Collection as of Jul 2002 They show an address of this company, but not a phone number. Experian is also my lowest score at the moment. I have no idea what this is, but I know that I don't owe any money on this account. Should I dispute this item as not mine, even though it says it was verified in 2004? Any advice on the best course of action? It only reports on Experian and I don't want to make things worse by opening it up to the TU and EQ somehow. Thanks for any comments! bushka
If you are truly unaware of this tradeline/account, then dispute it as "Not Mine", and await results. If it comes back verified, then write to First Data demanding verification of account, and how reported.
