My husband BK a $600.00 loan but they reported it as a charge off. Since it is a low amount should I contact bank and get them to commit to taking it off his record in writing of course if we pay it? Or would that be stupid.

No, no no!! Just dispute it to "included in bankruptcy."

The only options I see is to:

    1. Get the bank to take the account off his credit reports using the settlement method you mentioned, or

    2. Point out the FCRA violation to the bank (reporting incorrect information) and ask them to remove it altogether, or

    3. Dispute it with the CRA as included in bankruptcy, but then if the CRA amends it as you requested, you are still stuck with the derog on your report, plus you have verified that its yours.

Just dispute it until they change it or delete it. Does he have any good accounts? If not you should consider some kind of secured credit.
