These people just can't seem to get this right. I dispute something, and they ignore that and change something else that wasn't incorrect! This time, it was an address -- it's a place I never lived, in fact, no one lives there (it's a strip mall in the commercial district!). I told them that for the third time, and this time, they "fixed it." They didn't delete it; they put a note on my record that says it's a commercial location. Only problem is, the place they are saying is a commercial location is my CURRENT ADDRESS, not the one that was wrong. What should I do, and does it matter if that note is attached to that address? Would it be counterproductive to send a letter saying simply "WTF are you people doing down there, and why can't you take care of a simple address change?!?!!"
I feel your pain. I finally got EXP to fix old address problems and less than a week later they posted a new incorrect address. As far as the commercial zone thing goes-- I have several of these kinds of nottions on my report. For example, my current address is listed under construction/industrial trade- this is laughable, I live in a residential neighborhood without a business in sight. I gave up trying to get them to fix this.
Have you tried this? Getting a flyer or sales paper that shows the stores in the mall (and the address, of course) and sending it to EXP? In my experience, applying for credit using a new address would get the CRA to change my address without any intervention on my part. Maybe a creditor is reporting the wrong address. Other than that, I dunno...
My current address on EXP has a notation that it's a business not a residential address. I have disputed it with them several times but have gotten nowhere. One rep told me that it's info they get from the postal service. Anyway I have given up on this. I had offered to send them a pic of the house but they weren't interested. My neighborhood doesn't even allow commercial zoning here. It's so frustrating that they can't get it right.
They cannot get YOUR address from the postal service. They can 'zone' your address whatever they want, but if you do not live there, you do not live there... Maybe I am misunderstanding something...
Yeah, I tried proof. It didn't work. I sent them the phone book listing for a retail store that's at the address. I know where they got it. It was an old mailing address for my business. I never got personal mail there though, so I don't know why it's on my credit report. I've got about three of those (old business addresses). I guess it doesn't really matter, but by gosh, accuracy is accuracy! Guess I should just pick my battles, huh?
That's what the rep told me. The postal service. I have heard so many different things depending on which rep I get at which bureau, I don't know who trains them or if they just make stuff up. You would think that accuracy would be important to them though considering all the fraud, id theft, etc. But they just don't seem to care.
