I decided to take a chance and apply for a Macy's card online tonight. Just finished the application and submitted it and got the following response.

Your request for an account has been received and requires further processing. We will contact you within 10 days. If you do not receive notification within this time, please call us at 800-517-1424 or email us at macysnewaccounts@fds.com. If you are currently making a purchase, please use another form of payment.
Thank you for shopping with us!

Looks to me like a nice way of rejecting the application.

I'd hoped for at least $100 limit to get started. Oh well, guess I'll wait a few more months and apply again.

True, they could have flashed across the screen

You're got to be kidding!!!! With the sound of laughter in the background.

I'll give them a call Monday and see what they say.

Yes, listen to George & Brytani. I do not believe they give very many "instant approvals" online anymore. They do have to verify your information before they give just anybody a card. There are a lot of scam artists out there in cyberland.

If you were denied they would tell you outright - you are denied. Please call this number to find out why - or some such thing.

In my case I applied online last week for a prime rewards card and I received the same message. I was feeling dejected at first. But then they e-mailed me with my approval! =)

Hey.....George, or anyone who knows, how does Citi look at new accounts? I know they don't like a lot of inqs. How many is too many new accounts and do I need to let them age at least 6 mos or what?
