Re: Re: Signing up for CCCS next week... Don't take those remarks to heart. From what you've posted in the past, you've done just about everything to keep up with your payments, but it's not working. So... it's time to so something else- and that's exactly what you're doing. Make whatever decision is right for you so you can put this behind you and start enjoying life.
Re: Re: Signing up for CCCS next week... If it makes you feel any better about your decision, I paid off about $7000 in credit card debt through CCCS, with very few problems. It took me 4 years. I now am debt free (except student loans.) My only advice is watch them like a hawk and keep all the paperwork they give you. The one problem I ever encountered was when they had a computer glitch and withdrew my monthly payment out of my account twice in one day. They refunded the money the following day and gave me extra to cover my overdraft charges, without requiring proof that I was overdrawn. If I was in the same situation now, I don't know if I would go through CCCS unless I knew there was no way to work a similar deal out with the CC companies first.
Re: Re: Signing up for CCCS next week... I was just wondering what state you are in that it costs that much to file Chap 7? I am in Indiana, and it cost me a total of $450, including all lawyer and filing fees. Maybe that's why Indiana has one of the highest Chap 7 rates?
Re: Re: Re: Signing up for CCCS next week... In TX, we got a quote (recently) for $1300 which included filing fees. Geez, it wasn't like we had anything that was going to be complicated.
Re: Re: Re: Signing up for CCCS next week... See if you have enough credit available on your credit cards to pay for BK. Another option is to stop paying your credit cards and put the money towards paying for a BK.
