If I have a Providian Gold card $3000 limit, $0 annual fee, no grace period (I think)-there were no fees associated with getting this account and it was pre-approved. Is this considered one of their "sub-prime" cards? Could it be upgarded to platinum?

I've had the card since 3/01 & never had an increase

Try to PFB them asking them for an increase and a grace period. I had them same problem and my wish was granted. They should do it as long as you were never a day late with payment, you use the card every month, and you pay at least the minimum amount. And I believe Providian ANYTHING is sub-prime!

Here is a bit of info from Providians executive office.
There has been a lot of changes regarding their line increase requests in the past month (requirements). They are strongly incouraged NOT to submit any manual requests for line increases to their credit bureau department. The credit bureau department that handles it consists one one person who comes in 3 days a week. When they put in a request it is not guarenteed it is up to that one person and your credit report-she wouldn't mention what the new requirements were!
