A little over a week ago, I went to the district court to file my lawsuit papers, and they said they'd call me back with a court date. Today, I went there to check on the status of getting my court date, and I was told it takes about two months to get a court date.

This my first time filing a lawsuit.. is this true? does it really take that long?

Sounds right. Remember, once the other party is served they have a period of time to respond {anywhere from 14 to 30 days depending on your stae}. After that is received, they can docket the case . A lot will depend on total case load.

Thanks Keepmine for the response.. I was hoping I'd be able to get this done before the end of the month. oh well...

Follow up question: I'm suing household for adding a late payment two months *after* I had paid off and closed the account (the insertion is not supposed t be there.. they screwed up). This insertion is showing up only under my transunion.

The tradeline was immediately put in dispute (shows "consumer dispute's info" on my tu report) right after household received my first letter on this issue, and it's now well over 30 days. Is there anything I can do about this or just let it be? I believe investigations should take no more than 30 days.. so do I go after transunion? or do I have one more thing against household?

Some lawsuits takes 2 years to get a date. These are in the bigger courts.
