So now I am doing a little research. How can I file a claim in small claims against an out of state CA? I have to file in their jurisdiction it looks like. So I write a validation letter (twice or whatever) they don't do what I want - how can I force them to go to court nearby if the are an out of town collection agency 2000 miles away? Or do I file against the CRA for not deleting information that the CA cannot validate? I am a little fuzzy on these points even though I have read a ton. I mean, there are some step by steps but not really for this. Or do I have to force the CR to take back the account? Confoozled!

Even the CRA's are usually out of state/county. I would like to know how to file against them in small claims also.

ASK the court clerk in your county.

It is my understanding that if they are doing business in your state, they have to have a registered agent for service. I believe it's the Secretary of State that maintains this information, it should be online for you.

I'm in Arizona and CA's are required to be licensed here. Did you check into that, whether they were authorized to collect in your state?. The Department of Banking in Arizona maintains a list of licensed CA's for the state.

I still can't figure out how to post links to old threads, if you put the following information: Desdemona "CA's Compliances" into the search engine here, it'll pull up a December post that gives an overview.
