Small Exp Increase from AU

My wife added me to her citi card about a month ago. She has had the card since 11/95, with a small CL of $1.5k and only a $300 balance. No lates or derogs at all.

It finally showed up on my Exp CR today. I thought it would help out my score?? I only got an increase of 4 points!!! I know this is a fake score, but only 4 points??? You have to be kidding me. My second negative factor has been short credit history, so I thought a 7 yr. tradeline would really help me out. It looks like I was wrong.

My Eq CR always reports updates (balance changes, etc.) a day or two later than Exp, so I will wait to see what the impact will be on my true FICO.

BTW, it was listed as an AU on Exp.

I checked again today...No further increase in my Exp score. It still hasn't hit my Equ CR :(

I have heard that becoming an new AU on an old account will make your FICO score think it is a new account and you will not normally benefit from the length of the credit history. But give it time ,it should go up otherwise.

I would like to find out more about this.
I am considering getting my wife to add me to one of her older accounts.
Does anyone else have input about what the impact of an older tradeline is when you are added as an AU?
I suppose no one really knows how they calculate their scores

Yesterday, I couldn't get into my Equ CR, so I had to call them and ask why. I guess my CR had a technical difficulty and I would be notified by a technician on Monday. I decided to see if I could get in today, and low and behold I could. AND Citi had reported.

Overall increase from the AU is (drum roll) 5 pts. But it gets me into the 700 club (703)!

I now have 10 accts. reporting on my CRs, so I guess if you have a lot of tradelines adding an AU will be minimal.

about how long did it take to report??

    About 45 days!

I was getting antsy for it to report. I think citi is famous for slow reporting. The date of the last update was June (according to reviewing my wife's earlier CRs) prior to this Aug update (when it finally showed me as an AU).

My wife put me on the acct in early July.

I think that's very true. I got a 131 point increase when added to my Mom's Sears card. But I only had one positive tradeline, and one other car loan with a 30 day late.

Still, congratulations - it got you into the 700 Club!!!

Hi, I am curious, how old was your Mom's sears card?
and how soon after you were added did your score jump?
and what CL did it have?

It is from 1975 (which is what my card says) although Equifax is only reporting it since 1995. The credit limit is $5,100. It took almost two months. It hasn't shown up on Experian or TU yet.

    Thanks for the information.

Wow, the spread of your 3 scores is amazing!
