So confused about TU score

I ordered my TU score and report this morning. I'm so confused. It says the minimum score is 150 and the maximum score is 934. What?!? I thought the high score was 850? What a random number - 934?

What's going on here? Is this right?

Doh! It looks like I ordered the wrong score. I didn't realize they had two options. I wanted the FICO score, not the TU score.

What is the difference by the way?
Any chance they'll give me the other one instead?

The score you ordered is the one we call the "Fako". It is a generic score created by TU to give an idea of what your score might be, but in most cases, it isn't even close. It doesn't use all the variables that the Fico score gives.

I doubt they'll exchange it for the Fico.

It WAS 950...they dropped it to 934...BOTH ARE ILLOGICAL

    TU~~F.A.C.O.

The difference is that the TU FAKO score is absolutely useless. According to a TU CSR, credit grantors don't even see it - only the consumer.

To show you how useless it is, one ding I got a while back was that my retail cc balance was higher than the average in this category (or something like that). FYI, my retail balance was $0. Wait a minute...I guess a bunch of people had credit balances on their retail cards. Yeah, that's it! And all along I thought the score was screwy.

    Weird TU.

I was getting so excited - for a minute I thought I had a really high score! LOL

Happy, the only score that means anything when it comes to the great majority of cc issuers is FICO. It's important to note, though, that different lenders use FICO to different degrees. Some base their decisions primarily on FICO, while others actually study your report(s) and use FICO only as one contributing factor in their decision-making process.

MANY...ME INCLUDED HAVE BEEN DENIED WITH HIGH F.I.C.O. SCORES...

It really makes us MAD when someone with a F.I.C.O. 50-100 points under us gets a card we were DENIED...
