So what are my options now?

    A little background...

I was out of work for a while. Working now for a while and finally able to take control of my credit. (Slowly).

I had a ton of CC Debt. Here is where things stand now.

MBNA, payment arrangement for last nine months, just dropped my interest down to 11% and reported me as current.

Discover payment arrangement for last nine months, Interest rate down to 15.99% (from 22%) and reporting as current for six months.

3 others placed with CA. ASG, P. Scott Lowery and Global Vantedge.

I missed the 30 day win for the first two, but all three received validation letters in the last month.

    Here are the questions.

    1. If I pay in full how can I assure that the collection gets removed from the CRA and how can I get the OC to remove the outstanding charge off balances?

    2. If I deal directly with the OC to pay them how do I get rid of the CA? Amex/Global is a assigned debt. If I get AMEX to get a payment plan going how to I get the CA to leave me alone?

The only way you can assure that a CA removes their account on payment is to make that part of any written settlement agreement. Do you know if these are bought are assigned CA's? Ideally you need to try and get the OC to recall the account, force the CA to delete, then negotiate with the OC.

If Amex works out a payment plan - make sure they recall the debt. This was years ago, but every time I DV'd an Amex CA, they disappeared and never reported. I finally settled with Amex. They wouldn't negotiate a PFD, but since they are known to sue, I just paid the darn thing, and was able to dispute it away on a reporting error.
