    When credit card companies post a soft inquiry exactly what sort of information does the credit bureaus give them in order to send out pre approved offers.

    THere are thousands of possible combinations. For example, they could say sort through all your files and give me a list of names matching this criteria

    Not more than 10 inquiries in last 6 months
    No public records
    5 or more open revolving accounts
    B/L ratio of under 60%
    2 or more installment accounts
    10+ years of history
    No more than 1 60 day deliquency in last 24 months'

    (2) Limits on information received under paragraph (1)(B). A person may receive pursuant to paragraph (1)(B) only

    (A) the name and address of a consumer;

    (B) an identifier that is not unique to the consumer and that is used by the person solely for the purpose of verifying the identity of the consumer; and

    (C) other information pertaining to a consumer that does not identify the relationship or experience of the consumer with respect to a particular creditor or other entity.
