If I move from the state where I incurred the debt (new York) to a different state (ca), do the laws of the new state offer me any protection? Or am I still bound by the debt laws of my old residence? Thanks
I'm not a lawyer, but I do know many states have what's called a "borrowing statute". This basically means that the SOL can be borrowed from the state you came from. So, I would definitely look into that or talk to a good lawyer that knows the laws in your state.
