One is the SOL on whatever financial obligation didn't get paid as a result of the check bouncing, which would be a civil (lawsuit-type) issue. The other SOL, is the criminal one...the length of which would likely depend on other details that will distinguish a misdemenor from a felony. Try calling your local prosecutor's office (from a payphone if you are paranoid), and ask them.
