SOL on bad check in AZ

    where do i find sol for a bad check in Az?

    There would be two different SOLs involved. One is the SOL on whatever financial obligation didn't get paid as a result of the check bouncing, which would be a civil (lawsuit-type) issue.

    The other SOL, is the criminal one...the length of which would likely depend on other details that will distinguish a misdemenor from a felony. Try calling your local prosecutor's office (from a payphone if you are paranoid), and ask them.

    The primary penalities are monetary (e.g. three or four times the face value of the check), and failure to pay at that point can result in an arrest warrent.

    thanks Nave,
    I ask because the collecting of the check was handed over to a collection agency. I was wondering what the statutes were on the collection agency

    would a bad check be considered an "open" account or "written" contract?

    I am in Texas and a check has went to collections--Merchants Recovery. What is the SOL for Texas.
