Just figured out what one of the more cryptic items on my CR is. Apparently it's an NSF check from a long time ago. I remember the purchase, only time I've ever done business with that establishment, but I don't recall ever being aware that the check had bounced. Anyone know when the SOL on an NSF check starts? The date of the check? The date it bounced? The date it was placed for collection? And how can it be showing activity as of 6/00 when it was placed for collections in 2/96? They've never even tried to collect it. What sort of "activity" can there be on an account of that type?
The tradeline on your CR is just like any other CC account - SOL 7 years. You must go through the same dispute/validation process. I would also get a copy of your ChexSystems report to see if this bounced check is showing up there. Try this link to order http://www.chexhelp.com/english/publik/index.htm
That's actually a really good question, although I'm not too concerned about that part. It was placed for collection 6 years and 7 months ago and they've never once actually tried to collect it.
You would have to check the laws of your state, I'm not sure. Oops, have you disputed as *Not Mine* yet?
Oops, don't worry it's going to fall off in 2 months. Is the dola reflecting 6yrs and 7months now??? With any of my items they fall off 6yrs and 9months from dola, it's been that way for me a long time. Only 1 time it's gone the 7yr time. Others here have experienced it and others haven't. I'd say don't rock the boat. I'm sure you you're within your SOL(but check to make sure) more importantly it's coming off in a few months.. Leave it alone
