Hello!! I'm new to the board here but I've lurked for a while soaking in all the information everyone shares. This board is a treasure-trove of info.

Recently, I had a CA claim that I owe between 200 and 300 bucks from an old electric bill from September 2005. I DV'ed them and they sent me the front copy of an electric bill. That's it. Would that be considered "proper" validation? Also, what is the SOL for an electric bill? I live in Florida and I can't figure out if it's 4 or 5 years.

I appreciate any advice or thoughts in advance!

It's probably sufficient to meet the requirements of the FDCPA so they can resume collection activities. Whether it's sufficiently compelling to get you to pay is another matter. Whether it's sufficient to prove to a judge that you owe the money can only be determined by the judge if they take the matter to court.

Thanks ccbob. The amount isn't huge (260 or so bucks) and I'm not really worried about them taking me to court for it. I want to do the 1-2 punch on them but I want to make sure this one is SOL. I'm just unsure if this falls under the 4 year or 5 year SOL here in Florida.
