What would be considered the date of last activity for college classes. Also what would college classes be classified as, open contract, verbal, written, etc. ? I have never paid on the classes. I was just notified by a CA that I owed a balance from the school. I withdrew from the courses, but somehow they must have messed up and sent it in to collections. Never recieved a bill from the school. Just want to see if the CA can even sue me with the time that has passed. Thnks .

"I withdrew from the courses, but somehow they must have messed up and sent it in to collections. Never recieved a bill from the school. "

Then get the school to pull it back. If the debt is not legitimate, it doesn't belong on your reports, and the CA has no right to collect.

Do you have anything in writing showing when you withdrew? Copy of withdrawl letter? Reply? Copy of final transcripts showing withdrawl?

    Is this a private school?

Some states (California, for instance) have laws requiring that full or partial refunds be given if a student withdraws by certain dates.

Yes, I have a "W" on the transcript indicating a withdrawal. I have no record of my actual withdrawal though. Do you think the "W" alone would provide evidence? Had I just forgotten or ignored them like they are claiming, I would have "F" in the status column of the course. Still wondering about the SOL's and date of last activity.

Based on your recollection, did you withdraw within the period for full refund, or just by the later date for no grade?
