    Some success......

I now have nothing on ChexSystems thanks to a dispute.

Now Wachovia said they will give me a checking and savings account. Does anyone know this: if I ask for a Visa check card are they gonna run Equifax? or will they end up running Equifax no matter what I ask for? Because if they run Equifax I'm screwed, that is my worst report. TU and Experian suck too, but not quite as badly.

Let me know what to do so I don't push my luck. Someone with authority is calling me tomorrow and telling me where to go dump my money. I hope she hasn't used last night and today to do any kind of check I didn't authorize, she swore they only used ChexSystems.

    Steph,
In my experience, Wachovia will give you the check card. They run the credit inquiry at the time you request an account. Mostly credit unions will deny issuance of a check card if there are credit issues. Just from my personal experiences, this is what I know.

I am just really scared she is running Equifax or such this weekend after the ChexSystems thing is straightened out. Maybe I shouldn't ask for the visa check card yet, I don't want to jeopardize their plans to allow me to open both accounts by the end of the week. I swear, if I ever get these accounts, I will RELIGIOUSLY balance my checkbook and make sure I have a lot of extra $$ in the accounts. This has been a nightmare!

    Hey Steph,
If the rep is a good one, she should offer it to you. So let me know how it goes!

You can relax man. The visa check card is NOT a credit card. It is associated with your checking and or savings account. If they approve you for a checking/savings account, then you are eligible for a checkcard. It comes as a feature with your account. You only have to request one. RELAX!

Thanks :) I guess I need to chill out. It is depressing to have all these credit problems, I swear, I will NEVER be irresponsible again or trust the word of others.

I've never been turned down for a visa (or MC) check card. In my past with poor credit I've had one from:

    Home Savings
    Guarantee Savings
    California Federal Bank
    Union Bank
    Wells Fargo
    X.com

Since it is tied to your checking or savings it is nothing like a credit card in how it is approved.

Which leads me to ask then why do the stupid credit unions (some) and the momand pop banks here in GA do a credit check for a check card, Is that stupid or what?

I'm in GA. Wachovia ran my credit (I didn't know until after). I got a great checking/savings account and a Visa Check card. My credit was not great at all at that time.

I will say that of all the banks I have ever used, Wachovi has to be the best. I just hoe the merger with First Union doesnt screw that up.

Start with a bank by getting a 90 day CD or 3...(I got 3 @ $500 each) one each 30 days...

Then go for a checking account later...
Tell them you are happy with your CD's and want to get a checking account.
Say something like "SINCE I'M NOT APPLYING FOR CREDIT, YOU WON'T PULL A CREDIT REPORT, RIGHT)"?

If you have DIRECT DEPOSIT for work...THAT IS A "no credit report" answer, SOMETIMES...

If you don't like the answers, you can WALK and take your money with you!

    Re: Some success......

By not great, what do you mean?

I'll just run down my stuff right now to show you what I'm dealing with and why I'm worried :)

    Equifax: 1 judgement ($68, Aug. 1998) *1
1 paid charge off (Capital One, June 1999) *2
1 library collection ($28 fine, 12/99) *3 (go check the Unfair replies to dispute thread!)
    1 medical collection ($105, Aug. 2000)*4
    1 medical collection ($262, Sept. 1996)*4
5 student loans in current standing.
7 inquiries, 6 within last six months. Disputed all but three inquries with creditors.

    TransUnion: Score of 564.
1 paid charge off (Capital One, June 1999) *2
1 library collection ($28 fine, 12/99) *3 (go check the Unfair replies to dispute thread!)
1 paid charge off (Associates, Dec. 1999.) *5
    1 medical collection ($401, March 1998) *4
    1 medical collection ($105, Aug. 2000)*4
4 student loans in current standing.
    1 inquiry

    Experian

1 paid charge off (Associates, Dec. 1999.) *5
1 paid charge off (Capital One, June 1999) *2
1 library collection ($28 fine, 12/99) *3 (go check the Unfair replies to dispute thread!)
    1 medical collection ($105, Aug. 2000)*4
3 student loans in current standing.
4 inquiries, 3 within last six months. Two disputed.

*1 The courthouse could not verify the judgement for me, so Equifax better not fake the investigation and say they verified it. I was never served and such and now there's no record in ANY city courthouse of it.

*2 The charge off was a result of my father charging up his card (I was an authorized user but darn never used it), making it over 180 days late, and I paid them off to get them lost. Naturally, they faxed over something saying they would report it as on time and allow me to use the card and take him off it....they never followed through because it was NOT an authorized rep. I am disputing with the three bureaus as "not my account" and see what happens. Otherwise, I'm asking my lawyer friend to once again help me out.

*4 These medical bills were from when I was UNDERAGE and my father is LEGALLY (in a divorce agreement) responsible for paying any and ALL medical bills until I am 23. These medical debts keep getting sold all over the place and redated, and they've falsely reported my birthdate as well so they can claim I was legally liable. I sent my proof to the applicable bureaus, if this does not work, my OTHER lawyer friend will handle it. (I have so many but hate bugging them for this, I use them for traffic cases ;)

*5 Totally my fault for irresponsibly using my first ever credit card. Associates did promise in writing to report it as current and they still have not. The collection agency won't do anything because they said Associates should not have made the deal.)

I have disputed every alleged delinquency with the credit reporting agencies, and many inquiries with the creditors (didn't want to be deemed frivolous.)

I have been told on other boards I don't know what credit problems are and to shut up. I have never had a BK repo or thousands of dollars of charge offs, yes. But my damage is not good because it has prevented me from even getting savings accounts, so I want and need help getting back on the right track. And yes, I realize the inquiries are a problem and will refrain from applying for additional credit.

I cannot even get CDs. I would love to hear what banks will do this. It angers me to no end that I, once irresponsible (in their eyes at least) with money, want to secure my financial future by being more responsible. And because of my past, I can't be trusted to DEPOSIT my money in a SAVINGS account. I tried at least four banks.

MONEY TALKS...YEAR ENDING 07/27/2001 (DISCOVERCARD) I SPEND AND PAY IN FULL $4,000+ PER MONTH...MONTH ENDING 08/27/2001 WILL BE $63.95 (only because they missed the 07/27/2001 bill)...

I MAY STILL USE THE DISCOVERCARD FOR A <CREDIT> OF $63.95 AT SOME STORE...

I'm holding out for my credit line increase...
I DON'T HAVE TO USE DISCOVERCARD FOR EVERYTHING...I JUST WANTED TO FOR THE CASH BACK...

Wachovia does pull a credit report and they even offered me a credit line at the time even when my credit was so-so at best.

But I agree with Shawn , they are the best bank out there, I really do hope First Union does not screw things up! Because when I found out they were merging with Wachovia, I almost pulled my accounts out of Wachovia, but then I found out that they would keep their name and that really Wachoiva would have the final say in things I was put at ease.

As you can tell, I am not a fan of First Union!!

Do you mind if I ask why would someone try to obtain a judgment against you for $68 or did you even know about it beforehand. That is outrageous!

I think that anything under a $100 should not be reported. This world is crazy and is filled with people that don't have any common sense or decency.

By the way what was the name of the collection agency fro $28 dollars?

    Just curious.

    Good Luck!

    Re: Some success......

Unique Management Services is the collection agency on my now notorious library $28 fine....

The $68 judgement is supposedly for a bad check...but my bank at the time now swears they paid him and just closed my account, but now they said they'll consider reopening a savings account if I get the other stuff cleaned up. They also did not dispute the deletion of this info from ChexSystems. There is nothing in the courthouse supporting such a judgement. So I HOPE Equifax won't lie and claim they investigated a judgement that may not have ever existed.
