Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Somebody FLAMES me... this board is what you make of it. ignore the BS. btw , george is a CN board treasure.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Somebody FLAMES me... I agree with Marci completely. I'll go out on a limb and add: The others take themselves far too seriously. They view themselves as "veterans" who've earned some sort of mythical seniority over newcomers. This results in bullying and a kind of pecking order. Very juvenile. Humblemarc, How can you say in an earlier post in this thread, "i'm smart and humble enough..."? Very revealing and far from humble. Woeful
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Somebody FLAMES me... woeful, I don't regard myself as a "veteran" with power over anybody, and I hope I never bullied you. For what it's worth, you've only been here 3 months less than humblemarc -- almost 6 months -- so you may be crowned "King of Veterans" next. Doc
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Somebody FLAMES me... I don't consider myself a veteran, and I have argued with some "vets" over the very use of the word. I believe people ought to be asessed primarily on what they bring to the table each day. A good, stable history certainly evokes credibility (and you do want to look at credibility when comparing arguments), but consistent posting of good material helps keep that credibility. I've seen people who've posted once on this board who had more industry insight and good tips than most on the board who had been posting for months. It's wrong to discount their participation because they aren't a "vet".
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Somebody FLAMES me... These same "vets" were the ones who left the board a while ago in hissy fits thinking we were supposed to beg them to stay.. or that this board wouldn't survive without them. Well, here we are..
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Somebody FLAMES me... Take away the first 4 threads and there would hardly be any info here worth looking at. Without all that work there would not be alot of trailblazing info here. Who wrote all of that?? I won't even use the name, but we all know who. rackt3, the reason alot of people have been helped is contained in the above mentioned threads to which I don't see your name attached to. WALLST
Ok, if this is going to be the therapy thread where everybody airs their stuff, I've got an old beef with Judyputy. JUDYPUTY, QUIT HIDING. WHASSAMATTAH, JUDYPUTY, YOU CHICKEN? BUCK BUCK BUCK. Doc
Butch, you do crack me up, LOL. Here I was, trying for the sublime, yet failing again, and there you go and grab it like a grail. Doc
I think everyone should be given a clean slate and allowed the opportunity to redeem themselves. Including the potentially religious intolerants. Just my two cents.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Somebody FLAMES me... I was staying out of this one, but now I want to chip in. Woeful hits the nail right on the head here. Some people really do take themselves way too seriously. It's a message board. It's not high school. On a message board, reputation is good for about two weeks. Nobody remembers or cares what anyone said six months ago. If a reputation for being a vet or a guru is what you want, then an internet message board is the wrong place to be, you need to write a book or become a motivational speaker. A good message board is about one thing: people comming together to exchange ideas, getting advice and insight when you need it, and offering it when you have it. It should be possible to accomplish that without getting into flames, bruised egos, and in-group/out-group dynamics. The newbie disrespected the vet. Who cares? The "vet" is not a doctor on the cutting edge of his field, he's just somebody who's had some success with the problem the newbie is still working on. If you get caught up in who deserves respect for what, or spend your time enforcing some unwritten pecking order, then you miss the point of forming a community to begin with.
gib, the horse ain't dead, it's only "sleeping". humblemarc, how can you say you're humble and smart at the same time? (which you do frequently) psychdoc, there seems to be a lot of "board awareness", where people get lost in board politics and try to throw their weight around. What a waste of energy. This is a good board but there's too much territorialism - "I was here first" or "I was here longer". What sad playground sandbox stuff. Talk about inbred. What is this love of "codes", newcomers are browbeat to look up in the F&Q? More tired oneupmanship. What is this preoccupation with searching the archives for every post made by anyone who dares rock the boat? More tired attempts to play "king of the mountain". Finally, I can't believe how "board conscious" this board is. The proud veterans don't miss a chance to cite their long history or many posts. When these narcisscists don't get enough attention, they throw a hissy fit and threaten to leave. My complaint isn't about differing personalities or views posting on the board. It's about making the board some sort of mountain you want to be king of. Woeful
This thread will shortly be moved to the Feedback forum which is designed for non-credit commentary regarding Creditnet and its members. CCN steve
mycroft, you described what I was trying to get at. This sad, "high school" mentality. I haven't been here long but early on I started paying attention to and even looking for posts by certain people. You were among them. I hope that doesn't make you drunk with power (just kidding). I don't know the code for "just kidding". Woeful
