I have one on the way and was curious if it is 3% at supermarkets gas stations etc from the getgo or is there a tier I have to work through like .25 for the first 1000, .50 for 2-5,000 etc. Any insight from anyone that has one or knows how it works would be great.
It's been descussed to death at fatwallet. It's a tier and there are better cash back cards out there.
The usual sequence is to find out about the card and then apply for it. You appear to have reversed that sequence.
Lol! I know I am guilty of that. I applied for the AMEX gold skymiles card and was approved only to find out the 10,000 bonus miles won't fly me from here to D.C. 4 times!!! I was sooo disappointed to learn you need 25,000 miles for one ticket. It doesn't mention that anywhere on the website! So now I'm thinking of cancelling my card. That was a wasted inquiry.
LOL! I think that most people tend to overrate rewards programs, even after they get their cards. That's why they're willing to pay substantial annual fees for those cards. There's only so much that a bank can give you out of their merchant fees and still make a profit. Rewards cards work at their best when your employer pays for the charges but you collect the rewards. Otherwise, they're no big deal.
Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash That makes sense. Only BIG spenders can enjoy the rewards these cards bring.
Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash My father is the National IT Director for Big O Tires (400 store tire company) and he uses his personal Amex Platinum for purchasing their IT Equipment. He is waiting for his Plasma as we speak
Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash 25,000 MILES IS STANDARD FOR A "FREE" FLIGHT DELTA SKYMILES is the same company...but run seperately... You could have gone to the web site of the "MILEAGE" part and seen all the relevant information...
ROTFLMAO! I know I have it reversed. I actually think I just want everything. I am one of those people that finds something they want, buys it, then sells it in 6 months for the newer, but not necessarily better one, and so on, it's vicious cycle. Hence my, getting a card, finding a better one, and cancelling the old etc. I have issues:-(
1 Your annual cash reward for everyday purchases at stand-alone U.S. supermarkets, gas stations, drugstores, and home improvement stores is up to 3%. Stand-alone locations do not include the departments of superstores or warehouse clubs where the standard rebate of up to 1.5% applies. Your annual cash reward for all other purchases is up to 1.5%. You will receive an additional rebate of up to 2% in months in which your account carries a balance. Your cash rewards are limited to $50,000 of annual eligible spending. Balance transfers, purchases of American Express® Travelers Cheques or American Express® Gift Cheques and Cash Advances do not earn a cash back reward.
speaking of which, what do you guys think of the starwood card, I like that amex gives you the double point offers and deals on hotels and good offers for travel in the mail with their cards, like me and my girl got a deal in the mail with her gold card for a room at the tropicana in vegas for 19 dollars a night(it seems they do this with every card but blue:-( maybe it;s because there is no annual fee?), and that this card has the BVG, it would easily pay for the 30$ annual fee just in using the BVG(because I buy a ridiculous amount of electronic gadgets) and I am assuming that like my worldpoints card a flight would take 25,000 points transferred form my starwood right? The reason I cancelled my green card is because it was 2 to 1 into miles, whereas the starwood would be 1 to 1, so green would take 50,000 spent and by the time I spent 50,000 I would have spent like 180 buxish in annual fees. Anyone have a starwood and really like it or hate it?
Re: Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash I clicked on every link on that site. I didn't see a "mileage" part. Can you cut & paste it for me. The part that says 25,000 miles are required for a ticket. because I didn't know that. Thanks =)
Re: Re: Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash http://www.delta.com/skymiles/use/skyteam/index.jsp http://www.delta.com/skymiles/use/skyteam/cont_us/index.jsp These are probably the miles "MOST" people need to know... 25,000 49 STATES & CANADA 30,000 HAWAII 50,000 EUROPE 60,000-70,000 ASIA
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash It wasn't in this link I found it in this link. But why isn't it spelled out clearly on AMEX's website? I can hardly believe that was just an oversight.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash NOT THE PROBLEM OF THE "CREDIT CARD DIVISION" The credit card is used to "EARN" miles...THAT IS ALL The "MILEAGE" part of the company is the one who takes care of the posting and redemption...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: someone enlighten me on blue cash IT WAS IN THE FIRST ONE...you needed to click on the blue UNDERLINE TO THE PLACE YOU ARE GOING TO FLY TO...
