I'm helping a friend clean up his credit reports. It's funny how easily you get accounts to come off when their not yours (helping someone else). I WISH mine disappeared as smoothly )

Any how back to the point.....

We were checking his reports tonight and when we went to pull TU with the new questionaire, it asked 3 questions.

1- what was the CL on one of his CC?
2- what was the company that held his mortgage opened in 6/01?
3- what was the payment on his mortgage?

    Hhhmmm....

He has never had a mortgage at all!! But thinking about it - that was when his parents purchased their home. Now we knew there was no mortgage on his report. He also knows who the mortgage company is and the payment on his parents (father past away and he helps mom pay bills). So he answered the mortgage questions based on that information and it went through??!!

Talk about STRANGE but there was no mortgage showing on his report?!!?? Wonder what thats all about?

It's a trick question. I get them all the time (questions about accounts I don't have, etc.). If it doesn't show on your report, you're supposed to answer, "None of the above."

I understand what your saying - I get those too, however the questions it asked were related to his parents mortgage (same company and payment) he answered them and it gave him his report

Yet you say the mortgage is NOT on his report?

I was asked about a mortgage, which I have never had one. So I answered 'none of the above'. I was allowed to view my report. I agree with wkn.

    Love,

I know what you mean- I'm asked about a mortgage too but I have never had one as I own my home and have never had a mortgage.

What I'm saying is he answered the question by checking the box of the name of their mortgage company and then checked the appropriate payment and it went through. He did not answer "none of the above"

    Hi,

Does that mean their reports are merged in some way, or some information is being reported incorrectly on both reports?
