    This is off Macys(Federated) web site;

    In the year 1857, in the city of New York, Rowland H. Macy opened the doors of a small dry goods emporium on a crisp October morning. By the end of the day, his sales totaled $11.06.

    1924 -- Macy's outgrows its humble storefront and moves uptown to a new location where miracles have been known to happen-34th Street at Herald Square( Love That Movie)

    More gunpowder was used during Macy's July 4th fireworks in New York this year than was used during the entire American Revolution.
    The first Macy's charge card was issued in 1901 and today is on display in the Museum of the City of New York.
