A week ago I wrote here at CREDITNET.com and explained that my credit file was turned over to a "special department" at TU after disputing two hard inquiries found on it. I was told repeatedly that a TU representative from that "special department" was going to contact me, but they never did. After finally getting tough with a customer service representative on the telephone this afternoon (and being put on hold for about 20 minutes), I finally was able to speak to someone in that "special department." The "special department" is a legal department at TU. I asked for a reason why a block (their word, not mine) was placed on my credit file and turned over to the legal department. A kind woman on the phone then asked me a couple of questions. "Have you submitted letters to us from an attorney?" No. "Are you an attorney?" No. "Do you work for a law firm?" No. "Who do you work for?" Well, the TU credit file on me clearly states that I work xxxxxx xxxxx, LLC. "Well, it is TU policy for our department to work on credit files if a person works for a limited liability corporation." What??? I asked repeatedly (four times to be exact) what difference it made whether I worked for a LLC or not. She put me on hold for another 5 minutes, seemingly to get an answer to my question, but then returned with the same answer. "It is TU policy for our legal department to work on credit files if a person works for a limited liability corporation." What I didn't tell her was that I owned that LLC. The call ended with her telling me that she would "unblock" my account, but that there would be no guarantee that it wouldn't end up back in her department at some point in the future if there were future disputes. She also gave me her direct telephone number and extension to call her if I had any other questions regarding my credit file in the future. "Not if I have to wait four weeks to speak to a customer service representative about my account and wait on hold for 20+ minutes I won't. Thank you for your time and assistance nonetheless." I replied. Hawg Hanner
I've been in TU's *special dept.* since June. It is a pain waiting for a call back that will never happen. BUT...I will say this...since June the following has been DELETED from my CR: Federal Tax Lien Civil Judgement 6 (Legitimate) Hard Inq's 2 Tradelines that TU *Customer Service Dept* verified three times before June 2 UNPaid Collection Accts changed to *PAID* Now I'm not supporting this special dept, nor do a like having to wait for a call back just to get address' and phone numbers deleted(happened yesterday - still waiting for the call!). BUT it does seem that this *special dept.* actually conducts an investigation to verify information!! And if the OC/CA does not respond, they delete the tradeline.
I just disputed as *Not Mine*, then *Paid, Vacated/Release* and it came off after the second try(while in the special dept.). The lien is from 1996 and is still not paid(will be by the end of the year though).
javan, I think that you had the same female that I had. Would you either email me or post her name and #. My computer crashed last month and I lost some of my info. Thanks in advance. Charlie
Charlie, I never spoke with anyone regarding these disputes. I usually fax or dispute online. Regardless of how I dispute, they all end up in the special dept.. I only call to dispute personal info stuff, but I can't do that either without going through this dept. I think what got the Lien and the Judgement deleted in that they are 1996 and 1998, kinda old. hope this helps
I thought you were the one that had the same girl, squeeky voice, that didn't know anything. I'll have to dig thru my papers. Thanks! Charlie
6 Got (Legitimate) Hard Inq's deleted javan ================== This is a NO no with HawgHanner Click here: CREDITNET | Straight Talk | | Special Dept. @ TU Explained LB 59
Hawg, I'll be more that happy to use that special phone number, if you would be nice enough to email it to me. I have some serious business with TU! TIA
Yes, lbrown59, I do not agree with removing legitimate hard inquiries. I see you agree with removing factual, honest information though. That's your choice. Thank you for being kind enough to point out this obvious information. RE: the phone number to the "special department" at TU, do you have a file already in that department? If you do, just call up the main number and request that you be able to speak to someone in that department. If your file hasn't been blocked and is not in that department, I don't think my phone number would do you any good. Hawg Hanner
