My husband has a split credit file at Equifax. I sent them a letter with documentation asking them to combine the two accounts, but they returned them with a note saying:

"Equifax is unable to combine your multiple credit files due to amount of data in each."

I'm not sure what this means as both files look pretty darn typical to me. Does it mean that some clerk didn't feel like going to the trouble?

Anyone know what I can do? It seems like it could be a lot harder removing derogs with this split file.

SPLIT FILES ARE ILLEGAL---will they say "WE CAN'T" in front of the judge???

All they need to do is eliminate all or most of the inquires!!!

OK, that makes sense to me. Does anyone know some code I can cite in my reply, to 'remind them' that this is illegal?

    Thanks for replying!
