My husband has a badly split file on Equifax. I notified them and they returned a letter saying they couldn't recombine (I believe they said the files were too long. However, they did not appear very long). Is there anything that requires them to recombine the file, if I persist? Anything I can cite? I'm about to dispute some derogs and I have a feeling this split file could put a wrench in things. Thanks for reading.

Wow that letter would be great proof for an Attorney! I would immediately contact one specializing in FCRA related suits. You would need to build the proper case with evidence and damages but can you say SERIOUS cash? The lady in Oregon won how many millions?
Re: Re: split file on Equifax Applying for a Mortgage, car loan and couple of credit cards for damages come to mind, of course with all of the proper evidence to show willful disregard.
Re: Re: split file on Equifax Where would you send your demand for merging a split file with EQ? Do you through the same address where you would dispute a tradeline? Or would it be a different department? Looks like I have a split file with EQ as well. Just didn't realize it earlier.
Re: Re: split file on Equifax Same here they just split my file refused to combine to many soft inquires caused file to split.
Re: Re: Re: split file on Equifax A split file because of SOFT inquires is easily fixed... Go to the OLDEST inquiry and start removing...10 or 20 or 50 or 100... If you remove some HARD ones...TUFF!!!
Re: Re: Re: split file on Equifax Found out after getting the results of my dispute for Marlin (NCO). Looked at old CR and compared with the new one. Definitely not the same. My name had a different spelling, different trade lines as well. The new CRwas showing another charge off from Sears which I have no idea of! Same SS# and birthdate. The new CR had a lot of inaccurate data on it, less positive TLs among other things aside from the name variation. This is absolutely ridiculous to say the least. So whenever someone (including me!) requests my CR, its a fifty fifty chance of getting one or the other CR.
