What is a Split File? I hear credit net members talk about it. It sounds like it's a bad thing. Does it make your score go down if you have one?
TWO FILES... So when you apply for something...they may get 1/2 of your accounts...they may just get 3 or 4 accounts and the inquires...(may just get all the CLOSED accounts and NONE of the OPEN accounts)...
Im currently dealing with this with equifart. You do not want to go thru it. Like George said you dont have either report correct. When I first found out my file was split all my positives were duped and all my inquries were on one and the other had one positive line and all my negative lines duped and 5 or 6 inquires. Now Ive got it to one report all positive but one on it and one negative duped, the other report has one positive and one negative and my inquries are split between the two reports. Not fun avoid it at all cost. I hate Equifart.
I read that the Split File situation is a result of having pulled up your credit report too many times via the credit monitoring service. You get so many inquiry notations on your report that you eventually get bumped into an entirely separate credit file all together.
I didn't know till I got ahold of someone in tech support. I had tried for months to get a copy of my reports via the phone and creditwatch. Its always said my Id couldnt be verifed. I got ahold a tech support number and the techie told me my file was split. Never been told how or why it happened. Always the same excuse "we don't know how it happens" Also told there is no way to fix it. that hopefully my file will get small enough to merge. They say 54 lines of info is when it splits.
