Ah the blessed TU. I just pulled DH's cr directly from TU and it has literally nothing on it, other than 4 tradelines and it lists him as being in their files since 1\2003. The file number is different from the one that is on his cr that I pulled in Dec. Of course the Dec report is the correct one. Could anyone point me in the right direction as to how to approach TU about it? Is it worth a phone call or is it better to do it all in writing? If in writing then how? Polite and firm, or play dumb like "I think you made a mistake", "Something has happened to my cr"? TIA, PawMix
Hi Ive been reading other posts on this board. Do a search. Apprently TU does this to a lot of people. Sometimes it's a split file, and sometimes the information just apparently vanishes. From what I read calling TU may or may not help. Some posts look like TU found a split file, and other times they find nothing. I suppose the latter is good for those who had some negatives to lose but it would seemfor anyone with any positive trades this occurance is a pain in the rear. So, in essence, good for people with negative they wanted gone, Bad for people who want their good information to stay exactly where it is. Chances are TU wont be able to do a thing if they are seeing what you are seeing. If they cant see trades that you allege are there they can't do anything about it. There may be a "black hole" in TU's database, but they will probably never admit such a flaw could be and just shrug when you try to clear it up.
The info doesn't vanish, it gets merged to someone elses file! I am there right now. I even accidently received the file of the person they merged it with. Only our first names are the same and ss# one number off. (I wish I knew a way to use that to my advantage with TU!) Either TU gets things unmerged or I file suit. As long as you pulled it previously TU will have a record of what was there. Document every thing. I believe breeze has a letter here or on creditboards about this.
If you FILE on them and show up in court with the file that they sent to you, that is NOT yours...they will have a lot to explain!!!
Thanks for the answers. Wow, I didn't realize that they merge the info into someone else's report. That's just bloody uncool. I wonder what kind of a system they run and how many FCRA violations it commits every day on behalf of them. I have a little difficulty filing anything as we are overseas right now. Tough to just walk to the court LOL. I'll send them a letter demanding that they fix it, and if they don't, oh well, then we'll see. But I am documenting everything like crazy, thus a phone call may not be such a good idea. I'll let you know how it works out. PawMix
Forgot one more thing. I just pulled DH's TU report through TrueCredit (shitty service, will cancel it as soon as it makes sense) and it gave me the correct, full report with the correct member number. Go figure. I guess they don't pull real-time. PawMix
That is VERY uncool! merging into someone else's file! Not a nice accounting system. Im sure some of the guys with rotten credit probably don't care where their bad trades go, but think of the poor guy who gets to inherit them! And really bad news if you lost good trades! From what Ive been reading it seem TU is most prone to this problem. They really must have antiquated software!!
