Split files

I faxed in a dispute to a CRA and was sent back one of the most surprising things. It seems I have two files that have *not* been connected yet. On this report there were 3 collections (on the one I'm getting from online, there's only 1). The account I disputed was definately deleted but its not on my report online.

I've decided to not pursue this due to the fact that I'm in the process of getting a mortgage and my credit report will be pulled one more time to finalize things.

    Afterwards, I'll deal with it.

P.S. Even though another CRA has split files, I still see all of the accounts online under one SSN.

The one I got today does not have the one collection I *do* have on my CRA (that by the way, I just got a paper one last month).

I hope it doesn't come back to bite me in the butt later. This information had to be out there for a long time now and I'm wondering how the info got split.

My file is also split (it happened when I got married). I found out when I went to apply for my morg. The loan officer told me that she had two beacon scores for me.

Just wanted to let you know this... so you can be prepared when you try and get your morg.

    Good Luck

If you don't mind me asking, which CRA?

    Martysgirl...
    Thanks for the heads up.

What I was trying to say before (which I obviously didn't atriculate) is that this 2nd file has to have been out there for years. Back in 2001, I disputed my report and it comes back clean. Some of these accounts were on the previoius report (pre Jan 2001).

It has the same birthday and SSN and when they pulled my CR back in April, none of the other stuff that's appears on this "split" report showed up.

I don't want to wake a sleeping dog, but if it comes up when they pull my CR again (the end of July - when they start firming up my mortgage), then I still have time to dispute and get rid of the things.

I don't know how to take care of this beforehand and not shoot myself in the foot. Anyone with any ideas?

By the way Mandy, I'd answer your question but we know this board is being watched and since I don't know what I'm going to do yet, I'm going to be hush hush on that.

Evidently I have two Experian files..one only shows 3 accounts of which 2 are wayyy inactive. I also have three Beacon scores on Equifax according to my mort guy. No matter, they took the top two so I was okay, whew!!

From what I get from both CRAs, there's not much that can be done to merge them now.

I just looked at the one report they sent me today.

Nothing there has been updated in more than a year...including current accounts.

    More to the mystery!

Sweetnsass, I totally understand your not wanting to say. I bet I know which one though b/c I have had a similar problem but w/ 3 or 4 rpts. I have tried to correct it and just when I think things are better they get worse. (Not to rain on your parade b/c it's different for everyone)
I think about the boards being monitored too and that's why I never say my scores here. Kind of like that other thread where the guy din't want to say who he worked for. He should be careful because companies DO monitor boards. About two years ago some Raytheon employees were fired b/c of info they posted on a board.

    Mandy,
If you want to know, you can email me...I'll tell you in a personal email.

I'm just hoping to stay under the radar until I close. Or at the very least, they do what they did for jonesing...for me...drop the lowest scores.
