Has anyone heard of these Guys. My Story is below. I contacted my Bank, they say if I bounced the check, which I did, & didn't pay it eventually, which I'm pretty sure i did, my account would have been closed. The CA says they have the Orig. I only deal with them by certified mail. From 1999-I only found out about this CA was on my Credit Report. My Story: Hi everyone, I bounced a check in 2000 to License Bureau, for $211.65 I just saw this on my credit report, unbeknownst to me. I want to pay what I owe. It's now with a CA. Should I pay the Full amount to CA or try to negotiate or offer a lower price because itâ??s with them or try to go directly. They say they will take $350.00 to settle. Your tips, suggestions are appreciated.
Screw the CA - contact the License Bureau and see what They need to settle the debt (pay the extra $25 or whatever the charge is) Demand validation from the CA - copy of the bounced check, listing of ALL charges initiated above the original amount, etc. Tell the CA if they can't provide this info, delete the listing from your credit report. I'm also wondering if it's legal to report this to a CRA, since a bounced check isn't covered by FDCPA (debt not born from extension of credit). Can anyone elaborate or clarify? I would do everything in my power to get the CA out of this situation. "Settle for $350"???? Where is the extra $140 coming from? If this were a straight FDCPA situation, the extra charges would be Illegal.
Thanks Burbs, The CA says they have the check, the copy they sent, it's hard to tell if it's the orig. I have tried the Bureau they can't find my records but say if I owed them, they would have collected it by now. I will send the CA the Validation letter.
1*Demand A - copy of the bounced check Burbs Guy LB 59 Do not settle for a copy: Demand that they show you the actual check. It's to easy to forge copies.
it's hard to tell if it's the orig. TK ============ You can't tell-that's why you demand that they show you the original check. There could be a half dozen people out there with a copy of the same check! Would you want to pay for the same check 6 times? Don't let them give you any static about showing you the original check.
