There are two SS#'s on my credit report. I'm sending a letter to all CRA's to have the wrong one removed, but I was wondering if there is any way I can find out when, and how this # got on my report and who it belongs to? Thanks.
They wont tell you who the SSN belongs to. They may tell you when it was updated on your CR but you would need to call them I'm sure.
How it probably got there (depends on how far off the SSN is) could be A creditor mis-typed/updated your SSN on an account that they reported, how many times have you miskeyed something even when you've typed the same thing millions of times before? A creditor was reporting information about a John Doe with SSN # 2, and for some reason the CRAs said, you are a close enough match to John Doe, and placed the account on your credit reports (Check to see if there are any accounts you don't know about). There are virtually unlimited numbers of reasons, the key is to get it off, and try to keep it from happening again...
How do you go about getting them off you CR? To make a long story short there is another person's SSN and multiple negative accounts that I am still working on getting removed from my CR. My credit score is E708 TU 710 and Equifax 495.
Dispute it in writing through the CRAs as incorrect. They should remove the SSN and any accounts attached to it.
