Who do not have a bank account and cash their checks at stores or in one of those cash checking places, are now able to request payment in another form: debit cards. Have to sign up for that with the SSA - who in turn will contact a contracting bank (Coamericabank) to issue the debit cards, as SSA will then load those cards with the monthly benefit amount on the date specified.
Banks are instructed NOT to impose any fees for in branch or ATM withrawals, but are allowed to impose other fees such as purchasing money orders/cashier checks.
