Citibank gave the shuffle. I called on Friday and they said I was approved after sending them the paystub, utility bill and phone bill, and that I would receive my card in 10 days and if I had any more questions to call the toll free # from there on out. I called they said I don't exist or have an acct. I called the application dept back today 2/4 and they said after the person approved my app the system rejected it for high debt burdenance. He put me on hold and came back and told me he spoke to the supervisor and that they were going to override my application and approve me. The only thing that saved me was when i called on friday the rep had noted my application that she had told me I was approved. Had I not called and she noted it I'm sure I would not have gotten the card. I guess it pays to be persistent. Lucky me that they did that otherwise I would have been arguing with how wrong it would have been to tell me I was approved and then jerk the rug out from under me. What I can't figure is why they didn't see the high debt burdenance in the beginning. They proceeded to ask for documentation. You would think once someone says they are approving you that the system would come back and decline it. I'm just wondering now if the computer won't come back and say the override is rejected. Any ideas. I'm hoping I get it. It's a nice line starting at 2,500. I told the rep I wanted to use it for balance transfers. I'd like to know how their applications system works...
Strange indeed. At least they did the "right" thing. Says a lot for Citi, even if their system is wierd.
I have to admit overall Citibank is one of best Visa/MC issuers. Wish I never bk on them. Best regards, Mirage
