okay....now that my collection is gone and my addresses have been removed and all other personal info...i want to start on my next step, but would like to hear opinions from everyone first. I am only able to work with equifax right now because TU is in dispute with my addresses and the same thing with EX. they are listed as this: creditor:fingerhut date opened: 2000 DOLA: 02/2002 past due:680 Date reported: 09/2002 Additional info: charged off/closed by credit grantor creditor: goodyear date opened: 12/2000 DOLA: 03/2002 past due: 73 date reported: 10/2003 additional info: charged off $547 okay...on my first equifax report it shows date reported for goodyear as 09/2003 . I decided to start with these two because they had the smallest amounts. I am in GA where the SOL is 4 years for opened accounts. So i want to know...how would i dispute this first? I don't want to do "Not mine" just in case it comes back verified. All collection letters have stop...FROM ALL CA...especially from goodyear and fingerhut (i think goodyear wasn't given to a CA). Thanks for any info.
i was going through some old papers....and found a CA letter representing fingerhut.........i also have another question........would it be better to wait and have all 3 fresh CR in hand and dispute fingerhut on all three at the same time? Equifax should be sending me something by this coming week showing a deletion...TU and EX are taking their time by removing my addresses one by one. I just don't want to dispute with EQ and then wait a few weeks later and do the same with TU and EX...i feel that that will rile up fingerhut and actually look for something on me if they are notified within weeks of each other...any suggestions? BUT i think i am going to have to go ahead with EQ because....i still have old addresses for TU and EX..... okay......i went back to my old records of fingerhut....my balance was not even that high! actually my balance was only like $250/300 dollars...but they tacked on the extra $300 once i went delinquent.....and goodyear is the same thing...only 250 owed on it...now i know i am asking the same questions over.....but i want to be sure i have all points covered: 1. The actual DOLA for me was Nov 2001, but they have (both accounts) DOLA as 2002....so do i go by their record or mines? 2. The amounts are TOTALLY wrong on my report. So what do i do in that case? 3. I haven't received any dunning letters from them since last year...so should i just wait a couple of months to fly by and then dispute with the CRA? (not wake the monsters? SOL is up in 2005) 4. Should i wait for the other two reports to come in and do the dispute on all three reports or space them out? So far...i have been told to be careful of the SOL and dispute as not mines first. Both have been to CA...but i don't know if they are with the OC again or not. Thanks for any input....i will be back with more questions.
In my experience, after deleting extraneous addresses, I always start the dispute as "not mine". IF that comes back verified, I dispute it with one piece of the incorrect info. If that comes back verified, I dispute it again with another piece of incorrect info w/ITS because "obviously" they are NOT verifying the information since I can prove it incorrect.... etc.
