watch this site regularly and I read most of your responses & advice has been so helpful-I am posting a question not looking for any miracles just some possible insight/hindsight. To make a long story short- I lived out of my car and w/ friends for 4 years- needless to say my loans are in default 22,000 - I have 4 fed.loans, stafford and 1 sallie mae- called the Dept of Ed and they directed me to Premier Credit- the reason I am sending this message. I questioned the rehabilitation program- & the lady attempted to make me pay upfront their 1500 fee in three payments and then do the rehabilitation program w/ 250 a month- right now b/c of my other obligations I can only afford $150- Is there any other way-my dad said I should consolidate then rehab- since I can't afford the rehab payments? Someone suggested asking for retro-active forbearance- Confused? Thanks for any insight.
