...Banning or restricting the use of credit scores by issuers.... http://clarkhoward.com/library/tips/credit_scores.html Hope this helps... Great site by Atlanta's talk radio consumer guru.. Listen online 1-4pm EST or he has a list of affiliates - in most states
Sounds good in theory but then you'll have insurers start whining that they "have to" jack up everyone's rates to make up for their being prohibited from using scoring to determine rates. And OT, I love this quote: "Under most systems, if your score is above 720, you qualify for most everything for which you apply....Some people have scores that are just fine, but they canâ??t let it go. And, there is no need to obsess if your score is above 720. You are qualified for the best rates with that number" I'd rather keep my hedge margin considerably above 720, thank you...especially when you don't know who is going to see a 10 point drop as justification to do a rate jack. As others have found, a 720+ score certainly doesn't guarantee anything.
Maybe they could go to a REALLY WEIRD way of getting "COST" of the insurance... DMV DRIVING RECORD INSURANCE CLAIMS REPORT KIND OF CAR MILES DRIVEN PER YEAR AGE OF DRIVER
We shall see there does seem to be some larger public outcry. I truly enjoyed the Sites to improve your credit score and report Only problem is they missed the credit boards like here...
I hate it when they give blanket statements like "a 655 fico = 7.25% for a mortgage"! I had 589, 666, 670 and got the best rate (5.875) when I refi'd last time... When they print that kinda stuff it just makes it easier for lenders to take advantage of Joe Consumer.
Re: Re: States Banning Credit Scores! BROTHER HAS ROTTEN CREDIT (EX WIFE APPLIED ALL OVER THE PLACE "JOINT" WITH-OUT HIS KNOWLEDGE) AND NEVER PAID... HE HAS NEVER HAD A TICKET...ACCIDENT...CLAIM...but because he has POOR credit he gets to pay OUTRAGEOUS RATES FOR INSURANCE!!!
Re: Re: States Banning Credit Scores! They wouldn't have missed it, if you guys hadn't gotten snotty with the reporter who came here asking questions last year - creditboards.com is mentioned. We gave the reported interviews. http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/2003/04/16.html
