PrivacyGuard, who offers credit reports and other stuff, has a *seemingly* attractive offer: Pay $1 for a 3-month membership. Sounds great, right? WRONG. Whenever you ask them for your credit report, they'll place a HARD inquiry with all 3 credit bureaus. A hard inquiry is the type that lowers one's credit score. A few of these within a 6-month period, and your PrivacyGuard memership alone is a score killer. Beats the whole purpose of a privacy service. How idiotic and amateurish of them. Saar
