WTF is going on with them. They totally ignore my request to investigate items. Everyday my CE score drops another point or two.

Unfortunately, everyone in my area pulls from them. The most difficult item I have to have corrected/deleted is a charge-off account from Providian(Bast*rds).

But how, if they keep replying with "This item has been previously investigated"?

    I need insight please.

Why don't you pursue this matter through Providian instead of Experian?

Send a certified letter, return receipt requested, to Providian demanding they correct the inaccurate information. If they do not make a correction within 60 days, file a lawsuit against them in Small Claims Court.

You lose points for every inquiry made for your credit profile for the previous 180 days. If you are having people "all over town" look at your file, that would account for the "daily" drop in points.

    Good luck!

Jason...I had thought about addressing this directly with Providian, but reading various post on this board, all indicate that you can't get anywhere with them. Additional, I have that common fear of opening up a can of worms which may result in some legal or collection action.

In my post, I did not mean to give the impression that I have "everyone all over town" looking a my credit. I am attempting to obtain a mortgage & I know that my score will drop because of it.

What I was trying to illistrate is the fact the Experian continues to erreonous information and my score is suffering because of it, but thank you for your reply.

    well,

if they are reporting it wrong, they have opened up a can of worms, not you. You have every right to request that they report the entry correctly. It is a violation if they are not.

Even if you owe the debt, it does not preclude them from following the FCRA. It is a possible cause of action.

Having people "all over town" look at your report won't hurt your score if they are soft inquiries. Also, inquiries that are less than a year (possibly even 2 years) old can hurt score. Also, not every inquiry will hurt your score.

Have you tried the litigious nutcase letter? I've used it twice and it worked both times. Christi's 48 hour fax also worked wonders with one really stubborn problem I was having. Try these with Providian and you might have more luck.

What is Christi's 48 hour fax? This sounds like something I would like to try!

I can't find a copy of it, try a search using "intent to sue". Christi posted it a couple of weeks ago.

I had a problem disputing an item on my report. their kept verifying the incorrect information even though it was obviously wrong. I finally called Experian and got the number, using sugar and spice, to their dispute unit and I talked to a real person. I explained why the information was wrong and they agreed to delete. It was done in 48 hours!
