Ok, me: was under the impression that i was under a 1 yr. contract for verizon wireless. year up in may, called to shut off service, was told, no i'm on a 2 yr. no way, i wouldn't sign up for 2 yrs. i have had 3 different reasons offered to me as to why i am on a 2 yr. that doesn't matter. they still never provided me with any kind of hard copy of a 2 yr. agreement. my last try i told the guy on my statement it says current plan amerchoice 300/$35/1yr. he told me that that is my calling plan. so, i'm stuck with a 2 yr. contract but a 1 yr calling plan?

i bought into this deal via the internet and i know damn well it didn't state any of that. so, i have to pay verizon $175 to cancel service or keep them for another year and pay over $400.

i guess i can call them liars all i want to, bottom line, does anyone know what proof they have to have to hold me to this?

FWIW, my daughters bill has 2Y and it's a 2 year plan...

If you got a free or very cheap phone (under $50) and/or no activation fee, it's a 2 year plan.

However, if your most recent bill says 1Y, you are under a 1Y plan. Do you have a verizon owned store local? If so, stop by with your statement and ask if that means a 1 or 2 yr plan and go from there.

If you ever make a change to service (add/drop features) they add a year or two, depending on the changes. My daughter is in college and has a cell phone instead of a wired phone and she changed plans in Jan - the contract is now 2Y from Jan. even though she didn't get a new phone or anything.

SEE THAT IS B.S.! HOW CAN THEY MAKE YOU SUDDENLY HAVE A 2 YR. CONTRACT WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT IF YOU WERE PREVIOUSLY ON A 1 YR? AAARRGGHHH! I AM SO SICK OF EVERYTHING. I GOT MY HOUSE, I GOT MY CAR, I GOT A FEW CC'S. I AM DONE I THINK. SICK OF MONEY GRUBBING WEASELS. thanks for your response.

Ok I am not a law suite happy kid. BUT I also hate when businesses try to rip people off.

My suggestion would be to keep your records, cancel your plan and then sue them in small claims court for twice the cancelation fee plus filling fee and court cost. Claim that the you did not get the service you paid for. It's a gamble but more than likely they would call to settle.

Other people on this board might have better ways to deal with scums like this.
